smell of my wash

smell of my wash

i am new to the whole art of alcohol creation and distillation.

anyways, my first successful wash consisting of brown sugar, corn meal, water, and yeast smells really bad. is this normal? i can smell traces of alcohol so im pretty sure this wash was successful. i wont know for sure until i distill it. but to be honest, the wash almost smells like vomit. anyone else ever experience this?
