emergen-c

Post by mississippimoon »

anyone else ever heard of emergen-c? its a powder vitamin C citrus dietary supplement. i got to thinking, this stuff contains vitamins and minerals, and yeast needs that. its especially high in B vitamins and yeast love that too. plus it is a citrus powder, so it will help to lower the ph. im thinking of adding it to one of my washes. if it works, i just killed two birds with one stone. not only do i lower the ph, but i give the yeast nutrients. thoughts?

As long as there is nothing nasty in, then give it a go, and report back on the results.

I'm with Hook; if it's good enough for us, it's good enough for yeast.

I had a slow 5 gal. wash this week(100% backset on 1st gen. UJSM...) and yesterday I dumped a pound a old, dirty millet into it, and today, she's gone nuts. Yeast are such simple critters...

first update: last night i made a yeast bomb using warm water and a packet of the emergen-c. it grew very well

then i put it in a corn meal/brown sugar wash and when i checked it this morning it was bubbling like crazy, so i would deduct that it hasnt had a negative impact in the least bit. i'll keep yall updated as the wash continues to ferment and when i get my final product.
