Well i finally made it to my SPIRIT RUN!!!!!!

Post by booger68 »

I have got them sitting in the garage now airing out.I ran it slow and low the made the cuts like Kiwi suggested in his post about making cuts.It ran spot on like he stated but when i hit about 26% alcohoul it was just barely dripping so i sut it down.

I made the heart cuts at 80% down to 70% but i am hoping i can use some of the other stuff also but if not i will save them for a while then run them all at once and see what i get.

Well i hope it turns out alright taste wise i guess i will go scrounge up some oak and cut me some blocks up...

Thanks all for your help!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes there has been some sampling going on.I took 2 quarts to a fish fry last saturday and it was a hit.I cut one down to 90 proof and the other at 100 proof it was gone pretty quick. After dismissing the worries of going blind and lead poisening it was all good.

I may have even found a couple of folks wanting to learn, they had alot of questions.

I made a post a few mineutes ago about getting greedy i tried a little bit of blending and i guess i got into a tails jar and that quart was real nasty tasting i am going to have to put the proof on the jars next time.I think it was one about 100 proof without cutting but i need to do some sampling and make sure.

But i am real happy the ones that where good where real good (at least to me and some around here)

I still have alot to learn though so be ready for some more questions.

Thanks to all that helped and answered my questions!!!!!!

Hehe, congrats, I remember my first spirit run. I came on here with all caps "I DID IT, IT WORKED, HOLY CRAP I MADE IT AND IT'S GOOD"
Funny thing is...after all this time..I still get excited when I run a batch and it's all set out airing. "Then I do my cuts..oh goody..then the bottling...hehe...then the oak in each..yippee, hide this away....ahhh, done".

Then in about a minute I think, "I gotta put on another batch..I need more bottles..I need some casks or something..do I have enough sugar?.."

It never grows old.
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!
