copper jam pot boiler

Post by CoOkEd »

My new hobbie is now causing me to notice every little shiny copper and stainless object where ever I go. I was wandering through a store yesterday and came across two copper jam pots at 70% off. I couldn't resist.

If I soldered these together would they make a decent small boiler for a pot still? They are 15" wide and 5" tall but the copper is a little thin. I'm not looking for anything big yet, just a stove top/hot plate stiller right now.

Looks like they would work.
You could get a bit bigger still if you can find some copper flashing and make a ring to go between them.
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.

Awesome idea Hawke, I saw this post yesterday and felt like this was a subject that some of the more experienced builders could answer. What he has to work with would make a still but, it would hardly be worth the effort on the output. Solder in some material in the middle and now were cooking.
