alcotec 8

I use Alcotec 8 turbo v.3.1 on a sugar wash for rum. Last time I purchased some I was told it was not being produced any more.
Anyone heard anything about it ceasing production?
I've compared a number of different yeasts but have always come back to it as I find it the most reliable and I,ve probably developed a taste for it as well. Seems to produce more end-product in our southern winter climate or, at least, thats the results I've had.
Is it alright to store packets of yeast in the fridge or freezer to extend their shelf life or no??

I store all my yeast in the fridge. It slows yeast activity significantly thus prolonging the life beyond the expiration date
