malt extract as nutrients
I have only made a couple of mashes. One sugar with turbo yeast and one with sugar, tomato, vegimite mix. I am considering replacing the nutrients in my mix with malt extract. Can anyone tell me what quantity of malt extract i would need in my 25litre mash and would the malt provide enough nutrients.

Welcome to the forum, your idea is a little outside the box. I have never hear of anyone doing such a thing, not that it wouldn't work i just haven't heard of it being done. Sorry I can't be of more help then that.

Iv used extract before, but did not investigate to much , just mixed a cup or so in the wash, and it seemed to be happy.

Re: malt extract as nutrients
Thanks for the replies. The reason i wanted to replace the vegimite was the salt content. The malt extract has all the vitaminB group and some potassium. Don't know if the malt flavour will carry over. If it does i can use it for a whiskey brew by adding some whiskey essence.
