Doube Run Dilemma

Post by 0re0 »

I know this Q & A is probably somewhere on this site, but the intel around here is so vast its hard to find.

I ran a double run tonight of some previously ran shine.
This 2nd run doesn't have as much heat in it as the first run did, however its still pretty warm to the taste.
I was just wondering if any of you guys have any ideas or secrets to help reduce the heat in the drink.

The last batch before this one was a 2nd run batch and it was as smooth as anyone could ask for.
I just wish I could remember what I did the last time that I didn't do this time so I could repeat the process.

well i did make appropriate cuts for heads and tails
Once the still got up to temperature and started getting right I thought, oh crap!
I forgot to add some baking soda & salt.
But since the still was getting right i wasn't about to stop everything.
oh well, save it for the next run, thanks

yea, it is breathing right now

I never add baking soda or salt to my washes, there is no need, just making carefull cuts in small jars, and leaving til the next day to blend the good stuff is enough, then air. I usually let mine air for at least a week.
