...yep, good things come to those who wait but sometimes you have to take a chance.
I've been looking for a keg as a new boiler because I'd like to do larger runs than 6 gallons and it seems that once you have the boiler up to temperature it's just as easy to keep it going. I've been discretely asking around but haven't come up with anything. Three days ago I was chatting with an acquaintance from work and decided, what the h_ll, I'll ask if he's got a keg or knows someone who does; so I did. He looked at me funny and asked what I needed it for. He had made a few comments in prior conversations that let me know he liked whiskey so I told him "for a project that involves copper and a boiler". He perked up and said, "Yep, got one in my yard. I was going to make a crab steamer out of it but my wife bought one before I got to it." I asked him how much he'd like for it and he said, "For that, nothing, my wife will be happy that I got it out of the yard." He brought it to the jobsite today and in return I gave him a split of my most recent (and actually pretty good) whiskey. He might get lucky for "cleaning up", has some okay homemade whiskey, and I have a new boiler. WIN WIN.
