Instant Menthol Peppermint Schnapps

I made some what I think is better than Dr McGillicudy's .

This was a 750 ml batch
Took 1 cup white sugar
Put it in a 1L pyrex measuring cup
Added at a 2 to 1 ratio, distilled water and 92% abv neutral till I got to 750 ml.
Stirring constantly over a medium heat in the measuring cup (must be pyrex or stove-top quality glass)I dissolved the sugar till it all went clear.
Heated to 160F/71C at this point I noted a vapor coming off so I maintained heat and stirring till it stopped. < could it have been traces of foreshot/heads?
Cooled in chilled water and added 1 1/2 tablespoons Flavorganics peppermint extract. http://www.flavorganics.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
Bottled and set in freezer for 1 hour. It will stay there till refilled, shouldn't be long.
