made my first run
Ok so i made my first run today with my MileHi Milk Can Reflux with no scrubbers running as a pot still. Why is mine so slow, I collected about 2 liters in about 10 hours, had very slow drips until i decreased the water flow and the temp went up. Was it so slow because i left the reflux scrubbers out of the column or what!!!!!! Just for info i was doing 25l of mash and started with about 80% abv coming out. advice please!!!!!!

Sounds like your still running in reflux mode 80% is very high for potstill mode, unless you are doing a spirit run. I can usually distill 25lts in around 4 hours with my potstill.Noneurbusiness wrote:Just for info i was doing 25l of mash and started with about 80% abv coming out. advice please!!!!!!

80abv is very high for a pot still first run. I reckon that what OD said is the answer. What is the abv of the two litres you have? I assume this is after cuts?

What water flow did you cut back on running it as a pot still?
