Hey guys, got a line on some used wine barrels, they give em up after 6 years, and am wondering if these will be any good for aging corn likker/bourbon with? i know jack daniels used barrels are bought by the fine folks at crown royal and are used to make rye but im i wanted to see if these are good for our purposes. any and all comments would be welcome. also, is there a way to open the lids of barrels so that i can char the inside or is the bung whole the only access? if so, any recommendations? id hate to pass these up as barrels are expensive and these will only cost me $75.00us.
thx, m.

Re: used barrels
If its a full size barrel it will take a long while to fill.
