Ok mentors, give me some feedback on this idea which I got from http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... e#p6830708 What would happen if I used cherries as a packing for a reflux still just to let the vapor hopefully absorb some of the cherry flavor in distilling a rum wash? I would put only a foot or two at the most of cherries in a two inch column with no cooling water going through the reflux head using the reflux still basically as a pot still. I think the cherries would have enough space between then so the vapors would pass through so pressure would not build up in the tank.
I have put cherries in the wash to ferment with the molasses, and have put cherries in the distilled product to soak for a month or two. I did not like the results of either method. Have any of you ever tried passing the vapors over a fruit like this?
