what sugar to use

i have always used regular white sugar for my mash but does anyone know brown sugar would taste like in the mash? some people said it makes it taste like rum. it that true?

yes.
brown sugar is generally just regular sugar with molasses added back in.

but really if you want to make rum you'll have better luck just using molasses.

i cant belive it. i just started a peach with brown sugar mash yesterday and you can already smell the alcohol in it. i never had a product work that fast. i used a "gormet bakers yeast" too.

I made a wine with peach and brown sugar and bakers yeast last year. It turned out real good.

Hmmmmmmmm brown sugar that sounds interesting.
