From what I have heard it's about the same as all the others, it only works if you use it and it doesn't work all that well. I would save my money and try to find an exchange student to give you some private classes. Or you could move to Brazil for a year.

If you want to learn a new language the best way is to immerse your self in it as much as possible. What you might try is only speak Portuguese from 5pm till 8pm when your together. It might cause a break up but with that and a good text book you might just learn a thing or to.Mr.Spooky wrote:my girlfriend is from brazil and everytime she goes back, i dont wanna go because i dont wanna be the one that dont know what the hell is going on and i dont wanna burden her with the translation around all of her friends.
The thing about all these language programs is they cost a lot, have a lot of hype, and aren't that good. They work for some folks simply because they are serious about learning. You can do the same and save a lot of money. Your girlfriend speaks it that's the resource you should be using.

New languages don't come easy to me. Books, classes, and cds simply don't work that well. 5-8 no English and no tv, a text book to help you with the tenses and grammar, and a lot of flowers.
The thing is your probably not going to use the program, it's boring, not fun at all, and your going to find something else to do.
Save your money and spend it on her. You will get more mileage that way.

rosetta stone is the name of the program. on the comercials they advertise that the government, fortune 500 companies , and even nasa uses it... good lord, i sound like the comercial
anyway, its a 3 or 4 part program and it is about 200$ just to get your feet wet, but if you want the professional edition your looking at about 900$ . i would never go that far with it , but i was just needing the basics.
