Compatible Fittings

Post by doslaur »

I am building a basic pot still from 2 kegs. One keg for a boiler and one for a condensor tank. I want to install bulkhead fittings in the condensor tank for the copper coil, and the inlet and outlet water line. My question is, can I connect 1/2" copper tubing to the bulkhead fitting. Do they make a bulkhead fitting for flared copper nuts? Or will a 1/2" flare nut screw onto a 1/2" JIC fitting? Also if I get a stainless steel needle valve with tube compression fittings on each end. Will a copper tube fit in the ends of my needle valve & will the stainless compression fittings work with the copper tubing? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks............. Doslaur

I would install a bulk head fitting that had a female NPT (national pipe thread) thread. This way you can thread any adapter fitting you want into that (ie. barb, flare, compression, ect). Check on Marine boating sites, they use these quite often for ejection ports for bulge pumps and hull drains. Here is a quick site that I referenced...Brass and stainless are available...

thinking inside the box is for squares....
