Making a Keg Boiler

Post by bencornish »

Hi All,

I had a couple of newbie questions around converting a Keg.
I want to keep the top as is and Clamp my column onto the Key top uncut.

Whats the easiest way to get a Valve onto the bottom of the Keg ?
Ive cut the hole, however the keg wall thickness is not enough to simply screw it on ?
Can it be loosely screwed on and then soldered ?
Or is welding possible ? Can Brass be welded to Stainless ? or do i need to go buy a stainless threaded Tap ?

I also have a similar issue with my heating element.. its a thread version too :(.

Can I just take it down to my local engineering shop ? or will a Branded Keg cause me issues you think ?
