Making Apple Pie Shine

Post by WhiteLightning »

Had a recipe awhile back for this stuff, but lost it in the great mounds of paperwork!

Wondering if any of ya'll had a write up on which spices work best for makin this southern favorite! Buddy of mine said he had some at a local North Carolina rodeo an can't imagine drinking anything else now!
Input greatly needed!
My base will be a rum at (+/-) 75%
If it dont burn it aint good!

he is what I use and its pretty damn good my freind.

APPLE PIE BRANDY.

Heat one gallon of apple juice.

Add 2 cups of sugar

2 tsp of cinnamon oil

Add 2 tablespoons of apple pie spice.

2 Pints of moonshine 90% ABV

Stir until dissolved.
Let this mixture cool down to room temperature and add one
Quart of 70% ABV or higher Moonshine. Put into jars and let set for two weeks.
you may have to filter out the spices that settle on the bottom.

much easier if you use whole spice . if you cant git these use a "tea bag" for ground spice.

Hello, I know there are many apple shine post but I ended up on this one and made the recipe. My question is on the 2 tsp of cinnamon oil. After I was finished with the recipe I had to taste it, wow it was mostly hot cinnamon taste. Will that subside after the 2 week aging? Or should I have used 2 drops not 2 tsp of the oil? The cinnamon oil I used was the type you make candy from.
thanks

Thank you sir for fast reply. I hope that maybe the cin oil was coming to top and not fully dilluted throughout mixture.
Little bit of aging will tell.

whole/ not ground. then it is easier to filter out/remove.
cinnamon sticks, whole /grated nutmeg,,grated ginger or whatever combo you want.
apple pie spice is manly cinnamon and nutmeg, but can have allspice, ginger, cardamon or any combination.
if you use ground, I suggest using a "tea bag" as they can be hard to filter out.
