Reclaim whiskey barrels

McKay Flooring in the UK is selling "reclaimed whiskey barrel flooring". I wonder if it is treated at all or if we could buy it and use as flavoring sticks?

There is a "Request Free Sample" button on that page. I requested a free sample. If/when it arrives I'll post some pictures for better analysis.

Anyone know anything about this or something similar?

Quite a few of the distilleries up North sell on their old barrels. There is even some on fleabay. Highlands and Islands fire brigade use old barrels staves for hot fire training!!!! To be honest, there is no shortage of used barrels if you are in the UK.
