what to put mash in

want can i use to put mash in wile it s doing its thing???

there is a plastic 15 gallon tub at the farm store i could use and a galvanized(but i dont think galvanized would be a good idea) and somone told me plastic is bad

i have my still and all the stuff to make rum

food grade plastic is ok for wash/mash.

Food grade plastic is ok for a wash/fermenting. It's not so good for high abv or as a component in a still.

My personal favorite is polypropylene. Look for the recyclers code usually on the bottom of the container. It will appear as as a triangle formed out of arrows with the number 5 in the center and should have the letters pp just below that. Then you know its food grade.

For small batches ues a beer keg. I cut a hole in the top and used a stainless stock pot lid to cover it up. Its a perfect size for a keg boiler. Rack it off and u still got enough headspace left..
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

I use 50 gal olive barrels .. a local company gives me all i want. I use them to make deer feeders a d other things as well.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
