Hello folks. Very interesting stuff here, been reading all I can for a month or so and have read The Compleat Distiller. However, I have yet to find the answer to a simple question. Let me digress first... I understand quite well the differences between pots stills and the various types of reflux stills. I also realize you can run a reflux still like a pot still. The flavors that come through with the pot still are what make a whiskey or a rum just that. But.... Couldn't you get the same result from a reflux still by blending of the various fractions?
In other words, I would put forth that you could get the exact same flavor profile from one run through a reflux that 2 runs through a potstill would give - if you properly blend some of your heads or tails or both with the hearts. Would someone confirm this or tell me why it isn't so?
Thanks all!
