Could you give me the proportions you use in the wash. The total volume of the wash and the percent alcohol of the wash. ( light molasses or blackstrap?)
Thanks.

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, and them's pretty good odds.

No prob! I mainly use a recipie from the site, actually. It's pretty light on the molasses, but I am yet to find a source of molasses at under $5/24 oz, so I just use one container to add some flavor. I use fancy since it's the same price as the others here, and tastes the best IMO. Feel free to substitute to taste. Gets an ethanol content of ~15%.
For 20L wash:
15 lbs sugar
24 oz molasses
5 tbsp yeast nutrient
2 tsp yeast energizer
I use a starter or else it doesn't get going very fast at all. EC-1118 is my yeast of choice.
I start with 10lb sugar and then add the next 5 lb when the gravity drops to half of original. Usually has consumed all sugar in a week or less and settles in a couple days after that.
I single distill this, i find double distilling kills most of the rum flavor unless you segregate heads/tails carefully and blend. Did that once, it was good but not worth the effort to me.
