Plate column in progress...

Post by decoy »

ok as promised i will keep yous up to date on the progress of my plate column...

so far i have recived 5 of the 12 110mm primus mantel glass chimneys as they call em..

i have made a 2 piece mould to manufacture silicon seals for each section and i have sofar made 2 seals and i am about to start on the 3rd seal now...

i am useing Dow Corning 2 part Silicon RTV N9161 and N9162 Catalyst

FYI: if you make silicone seals or Orings bake em in the oven for 3-4 hours to make sure there food safe and cured properly..

I am adding extra Catalyst to the silicon to cure faster but it still takes 4-8 hours to make each seal and i need at least 16 of em to start with..
i have a few things to do in between..

i am about to start cutting copper plates to go between the glas sections and i am about to start testing what size holes and how many to drill in each plate..

Any creative sugestions or ideas are welcome.
also for the few who have made a plate column any sugestions or things to keep an eye out for are welcome...

here are some pics.. Cheers..
