Oak Chips/piezes in Norway

Post by Thorin »

Just wondering where i can get Oak chips/piezes in Norway?
will untreated oak from a wood-supply be of good enough quality?
and will oak chips in a glass bottle be good enough to give brandy the right tastes?

hope my laziness for not searching the forums will be forgiven..

i didnt find anything about getting hold of oak-chips in norway, but i found some stuff that said that i can use oak/apple-wood in a glass bottle to age my brandy...

i dont intend to make very much brandy (i'll just buy some wine and try to make a little), so i dont really feel i have a need of a whole barrel...

Thorin -- norway is full of oak forests, isn't it? Just go for a walk after a nice storm -- you'll find plenty of broken tree limbs that you can use to make chips. Don't use rotten branches, though.

Now that I've found out that the oaks we have in Lithuania are quercus robur (the good oak), I'm pretty sure that Norway has the same oaks...
