I should have taken a little longer stabilizing the column, as the temp fluxuated a bit at the beginning. It also took a while to adjust just the right amount of reflux in the column as well as heat to the boiler.
As you can see in the picture, I have a small condenser coil mounted at the top of the column. The water flow to this is controlled by a needle valve and works seperately from the main condenser. I can pretty much cut off the flow of vapor out of the still with this condenser, putting the column into full reflux.
