Post by adanac58 »

all i got is a can of tamato sauce in my house , my sugar wash is fermenting extremely slowly because the yeast has no nute's . does there just have to be plant tissue in there for nutrient or does it specificly have to be tomatoe paste . i do have some other fruit in my house at the moment. any input would be appreciated thanks

I use a dash of Heinz tomato ketchup to make my yeast starters. Works great. I'm el cheapo so I don't want to open a can when I make a half liter yeast starter.

When I was in the Philippines so very many years ago and downtown eating at some resturant. I asked for ketchup to put on something I was eating.
They brought out the ketchup. I poured in on and took a great big oh bit.
My mouth sends a message to the brain. Poison control, poison control. Started hacking, coughing, upchuck time. Save yourself time.
Managed to get rid of that mouth full in a polite way and then picked up the bottle of Heinz ketchup to find out that instead of tomatoes it was made locally out of banana's. LOL!

But I guess that's not really funny...

a banana sauce in a heinz bottle ??? :esurprised:

I've seen on the TV programs where it is common to re-use beverage containers... some even super-glue the lid back on :!:

IMO, it's a bold person who eats in strange places.
Rarely eat food that we don't prepare ourselves...
I grow my own baccy cuz I don't trust Big Tobacco, and I will feel better about making my own likker.

... along w probable spices, sauce will have much more water than paste, but should still provide nutrients.
