Mason jars

Just wandering if any of you have used these for your finished product?

You mean to keep it in? Age it?
I've got a couple of liters of brandy aging on wood in a mason jar at home and I use mason jars for making liqueurs and such. I've never had any trouble with them.

KatoFong, do you do anything to get rid of the rubber smell from the lids? Perhaps boil them first?

Honestly, no. I boil new jars before I put anything in them, just as a hygienic precaution, but my product hasn't ever come over with a rubbery taste/texture. Mind you, I'm not putting anything over 40% in the jars, and liqueurs aren't usually soaking for more than a month. For long-term storage of higher-proof liquors, I might go with something else. After a long time, the higher proof will definitely corrode the rubber.
