shout out

Post by jake_leg »

to all on HD, respect to the moderators and regulars for keeping everyone healthy and safe... I'm based in UK, drink whisky and gin. I know a little org chem and a little electronics, nothing much about metalwork and plumbing.

It warms my heart to see the ongoing true love affair with copper, HD keep the flame alive! You know who you are and you must be getting trade rates.

Welcome! A bit of exp in chem and electronics should serve well! There's plenty of info here in fabrication, metalwork, welding/soldering, fixin's, recipes, procedures etc. Have a good read and look around the parent site and forum sections (as indeed it sounds you have already), and you'll soon find enough to get started, and any lack of fabrication/plumbing exp will not be much of a hindrance, especially with tried and true designs. Look forward to seeing any contributions from the chem/electronics side, we're a bit of a "traditional" lot here, but anything that makes life easier, or quantifies what we do, especially under the "kiss" principle, is more than welcome here, I'm sure!

Hey jake_leg, Welcome to the jungle... :D

I'm in the UK (North) also and as azeo said your chemistry/electronics will only serve to add to the skill-base here on HD... Dont worry about getting to grips with the metal, there's plenty tutorials here on the boards, take your time and it'll come...
So your a whisky/gin man..? If you don't have a still atm, take a look at the Bokakob Slant Plate in the New Distillers Reading Lounge..., easy/cheap to build (especially in the recession) and is capable of giving you the best of both worlds, (May have to de-tune for whisky), but we'll get to that later...

Take your time, read the boards and anything that is'nt too clear we'll soon put right...

Glad to have you... :D
