"Your first post should probably go here"

Post by Cascade »

This forum's description contains the words in my subject line. Turns out that this is really true! I was schooled on the proper etiquette and I am here now to introduce myself properly. I have been "lurking" for awhile and soaking up the vast amounts of information on this site. I have been exploring distillation for the last year and have even paid for some formal education on the subject but I have found that I have learned much, much more on this forum. I thank all of you for that! I have refrained from posting anything because I have felt like a kindergartener in college lecture.

I thought about building a plate still like OD pioneered but have since decided to let Kentucky Shinner do the job for me. I cannot wait to give it a try!

welcome!

you will be so stoked on a KS hillbilly fl*te as your first still (prolly end up being your one-and-only since you are starting out with the best). i am super jealous!!! the option wasn't there when i first started just a little while back...if it had been, i would'a gotten one for sure. i'm happy with how things are playing out for me in this sport, but you definitely have a great start!

good luck!

I am really stoked about getting the still. While KS is working on that I am in the process of working out my mashing system. For you beer brewers, I have been piecing together a HERMS brew setup. Hopefully, I can then make good beer and good all grain wash for distillation. I have been snatching up every keg that comes up on Craig's List that I can!
