Here is a link to a small heat exchanger which I'm going to try out on a still. Dimensions are roughly 6"x12"x3" with 3/8" tubing. 110 volt dual fans for airflow. They retail for over $300.00.

Your not going to try to use that for your liquor output condenser are you?

That's what I thought cool, I think it's a great idea. What about this, rather then wasting that heat could you find a way to recycle it? Maybe find a way to preheat the next run on a big day where your going to do 3 or 4 striping runs?

Yeah, that is a great idea.

That's a nice heat exchanger. I wouldn't pay $300+ for it but that's a nice price on ebay. I'm thinking I could build one for less than $75 and that's not shopping around.

Rubber Duck Are you thinking something like running your cooling water through a coil submerged in your next wash then returning back to your coolant reservoir? It would heat up your next wash and cool the coolant return at the same time. I kinda like that idea.

Wasnt there a guy that pitched this idea not to long ago. I think it was dunder that said the wash would start evaporating/losing alcohol long before it started to boil.... If i remember right.

Rubber Duck's definitely got the right idea. I think that's what the Revenoor continuous systems are designed to do. When I look at the pictures I could speculate that design is it.

Actually if you configure it right a pre heating system will work, but yes you need to be careful to not over heat it. If you push the rig to hard it can be a problem depending on how it's set up.

If you did wouldn't it be minimal? Not even enough to worry about I would think.

the one listed on ebay is built for cooling laser producing medical equipment. My impression is that its pretty highly engineered.

Seller was a fraud. Had to claim a refund from ebay

In theory, losses of alcohols from a preheater system would be primarily fores and less desirable heads...

just thinking out loud...
