Press fit copper piping

Post by redsoxs »

In the middle building my still (valved reflux), i may of made a very costly mistake..... need some advice.

I'm lucky enough to have a good friend in the building trade, who is able to get my parts at cost - to free (depending on what available), the only problem is he can only get hold of the new press fit joints; theses are the copper joints with a very high quality EPDM O-ring (see pic 1) which is press-by a machine & can hold up to 200 psig haveing a working temp -20 -250F which well above a still requires. The only major fall is it doesn't handle HYDROCARBONS. yet handles water which (H20) two hydrogen one oxigen? Yet can be used in SOME food industries.

Done a goggle search & found this...

As you can see from the Yahoo answers; i'm Left even more confused than ever.... i need a quick answer, if thats possible.

The problem is if the press fit joints are no good, then the costs will be to expensive to continue with my project. (having already shelled out a small fortune)
