Welcome to the forum 7up...

That is a CM (cooling management) still and probably not the easiest to control for a beginner. The guys are gonna come back with loads of recommendations for a first still, it all depends on what you want to make.

Whiskey/Rum = Pot still
Vodka/Gin = Reflux

A Bokakob Slant plate LM(Liquid Management) still will give a very nice neutral (Vodka) and is very easy to build and run.
For whiskey/Rum, then you need a Pot Stil, but you can also de-tune the Bok and make some nice flavoured hooch from that also...

Just depends on your tastes... Everything you need to know is here on the pages of HD...

Have fun and stay safe...

welcome, as the previous gentleman pointed out, suggestions depend entirely on what you want to make. I personally made a boka and haven't had any trouble running it or making a tasty whiskey. good luck and have fun

Welcome to the forum, not the best design for whiskey or rum. Go to the pot still designs and look through for one you like. As you read you will find out that the size of column and angle of lyne arm will determine how much reflux happens which effects flavor.
