Regarding direct wiring for heat up element.

Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

Regarding direct wiring for heat up element.

Post by Lynx_Gen »

Okay, having read all the threads on various controllers and fabicration, buying and modifying, I think I have finaly decide to make the switch for several reasons.

At any rate, one thing that was not 100% clear, for adding an extra element for the initial warm up theres no need for any heating control.
Everyone says to just wire it up directly, then unplug/switch off.

My question is, they mean that litteraly to wire it directly correct? like stick a cord with a plug end onto the element and call it good to go? i plan to run off of 110/120volt, and was thinking 2 1500watt elements for warm up.

This enables me to run inside in the winter time, and also off a generator while camping. (we often go camping for a mnth or two in summers.)

now from all the calculations even running direct like that it wont cause problems, and the household breaker will suffice. Im also wondering if it may be better to just use a pair of bigger 220/240 volt elements, and if I understand correctly, they will just run at about 1/2 power off of 110/120 power correct?
