Re: After taste
Have you posted pictures of your still yet...???
What washes/mashes have you tried...???
Are you sure it is a metallic taste and not simply raw spirits with perhaps some off flavors from less than optimal cuts...???
The problem could be with the still or with your methods of running it... We'll see if we can get you headed in the right direction...

Re: After taste
Mugsy,
It's possible that your water could be to blame, maybe high chlorine, or iron? ...usually any water that tastes good to drink should be good for brewing tho.
When you collected your spirits, did you collect 'em in lots of small jars? ....or did ya just stick a quart mason jars under and collect everything on a couple jars ?
try this... start collecting in little jars (like jelly jars) after the foreshots.
when it's half full, switch to another, and so on until you're done ....you might end up with 10 or more jars when you're finished ....let all the jars air out for 24 hours . Then go back and smell/taste every one ...you'll be surprised how easy it is to tell the difference between heads, hearts and tails and decide what you wanna save/drink, and what goes back in the boiler next run.
One last thing ...everything you've collected so far can be mixed with water and distilled again, so don't write it off and use it start the charcoal grill just yet.
