Hello from Ohio.

Post by tiny_tummies »

Hi all,

Been lurking for a while, reading as much as I can. Thanks to everyone who's made this the best place in the world to come to for information.

A little about me: I've brewed before (beer/cider/meade) so I'm not a complete newbie, but I've never distilled. I like all different kinds of drinks, I like to tinker, and I LOVE making everything myself, so this seems like the perfect hobby for me. My emerging philosophy is that almost anything you can get in a store or a restaruant, whether it's food, beer, bread, liqour, etc., I can do better myself if I start from scratch, use quality ingredients, and learn the appropriate process.

I've got physics and chemistry experience (I'm a scientist), so after a good read I feel I've got the theories down pretty well - learn something new every day though. Experience is the other key to this hobby - and there's plenty of that around these forums. This forum has definitely helped with my understanding of the safety aspect of this hobby (always my number one priority).

About my screen name: This is a project with a couple of female colleagues. Our fist post-sacrificial wash was Gerbers, and on the box it says "Big nutrition for tiny tummies." They got a kick out of it and now refer to the yeast as our "tiny tummies." All the time. Don't think Gerbers had yeast in mind as the tiny tummies, but it sure worked great.

I'm now three generations into Pugirum, two into UJSSM, and loving it.

Thanks in advance for answering whatever questions I will eventually come up with,
tiny
