hot water heater controller



Does anyone have any experience in using the controls from a hot water heater? I had a dual element heater and it had 2 controlls, one seems to have some kind of circuit breaker, and the other one doesn't.
Would these work to add a little extra control to the element in my boiler? Or would they restrict the elements from heating the wash to boiling temps?

they wont let tank get hot enough for stillin pot.
