Looks like a cool BBQ. It would be a lot of work for a inefficient product condenser. If that is what it is??

You would be better off building an offset Nixon stone design.

No offence. But that's the reason you should be studying all the different designs. And the theories behind them. Instead of trying to design a better wheel.

There are so many great designs already out there to start with. To get your feet wet. And get experience. Then you can yet to build the better wheel (still)

We all did it. You could go back and look at my first posts. Don't! I do beleave Rad told me basically the same thing about my first #2 pencil autocad drawing. It's nice to see your enthusiasm. Keep it. You just need to harness it in the right direction.

You are showing all the pre-requsites for a good home distiller.
Don't worry mate, I still post crap.

Your design could work by the way, but as MR said, horibly inefficient, and if the "coffin" was level on the bottom, you would create uncontrolled reflux. If you want reflux, you won't control it, and if you don't want it, you'll get some anyway. You would need to push the vapor tube in a little, or run it downhill to get ant control.
You design it, I make it. Copper and Stainless. Down under. PM me.

Thanks prairiepiss, you sound like decent bloke :), I should have learnt from when i started brewing, dont ask so many questions and do things for yourself, now i brew a very very nice lager! lol. i ll keep studying. Thanks emptyglass, to kind of you!. I was thinking about the reflux thats why i put a 10 degree slope on the base. WHen you say "horribly inefficient" what do you mean?, I still dont get why it wouldnt work because know ones said why it wont lol. Thanks mate.

Not enough surface area and vapors can go right past it. The vapor space is to large. The vapors will ne collapsing so they need a smaller space to be positive the contact the cooling surface. The vapors escaping is something you don't want to happen. You need a condenser that will knock down all the vapors.

Thanks mate, so in theory if the if the box was cooled on all 4 sides it would work more efficient?.

Sure. But it would be much easier to just build a pot still with a liebig condenser. And be done with it.

Thanks for bringing old posts back to life. :D
That would work for a product condenser.
I've seen something similar used for rum production.

While starting at the top, I was curious who brought up this old post. Always fun to see how far we have come and probably gives new members confidence that they can also grasp the concepts that seem foreign to them.

You sure have come up with some creative still ideas over the years googe

I’ve never seen this topic before .While it might not be the most elegant condenser , it surely would work IMO . A ghetto condenser when theres no copper pipe available .

My only suggestion might be a fluid lock on the outlet .
