Sailor Jerry style rum

Post by moose11 »

Has anyone come up with a recipe to make a rum that tastes like Sailor Jerry rum? OR at the very least a captian morgan spiced rum copy?

I've read about using nutmeg, pineapple, sugar, glycerin, allspice, orange spice, coconut, vanilla, etc...

I know intellectual laziness is frowned upon here but after many searches and hours of browsing I haven't found what I;m looking for.

Jerry Sailor is my favorite drink so any ideas to get me close to that taste would be appreciated...

I've got a batch of Winoes POSW sugar wash cleared and ready to be distilled, and a batch of a yellow golden sugar wash ready as well with variation of Winoes recipe , that should make a nice rum (smells real good and has a nice buttery smell) .

I know WTF is yellow sugar? Its like brown sugar only lighter. :D :D :D I know it must be a Canadian thing :P :P :P

For store bough rum, Sailor Jerry is my favorite too. The Morgan clone looks like a good start, but I don't think Jerry's tastes anything like Morgans.

So it looks like Moose11 and I will have to start experimenting and keeping notes. If I don't ever end up with something like Jerry's, at least I'll have a lot of practice at making rum. :)

I made a batch of Winoes dark rum. He has a recipe for it on his sugar wash forum. Great stuff.
