First ever run with my Copper Alembic...How did I do?

Post by Reptile1 »

Hi, I have just completed my first ever run with my 25L Alembic.
:D
It was a lot easier than I thought

Here are the details.....How do you think I did :?:

I found to demijohns of wine that have been lying around the house for years ( thought it would be a good trial!!) about 8ltrs in all.

Heat up time was around 20-25mins on the gas hob

The first 200ml I binned

Then my approx %'s were as follows every 200-300ml

1. 54%
2. 47%
3. 48%
4. 40%
5. 35%
6. 30%
7. 24%
8. 25%
9. 12%

I collected a total of 1880ml which averaged out at 40% :!:

I tasted and sniffed it along the way and it wasn't to bad considering the wine was old.

Is it worth me re-distilling the above two or three more times or would you just use it for cleaning/rubbbing etc :?: :?:

The grain wash I started friday morning is bubbling away nicely and should be ready soon, can't wait

I'd run it again. I run everything I do in the pot still at least twice.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer.
