American Distilling Institute online courses

Hey guys, I saw that ADI has some courses/book lessons online for about $250. Has anyone tried these and if so what do you think? I know the typical response of "you'll learn 10x more by just doing it yourself than reading it in any book" and I am very aware of that, I'm also not really interested in hanging the the certificate that they send you on my wall. I'm looking for people that have used these (or anything similar) and what your thoughts are. Thanks!

Have not done it but that's seems fairly reasonable considering hands on courses at live distilleries are about 10X that price for a weekend & 20X that for a week long course. Of course, the "hands on" experience in a production distillery is probably priceless to the right person. IMO you could probably learn a lot from the online course if you haven't been running your own rig for several years.

they have a number of them, depending witch one you take its going to be a lot different than on HD.or at least they were.
I whould not even mention HD.
thats not a bad price if thats all there is to it but the last I knew you had to join and that was 500? its been awile..

Is that right--you have to join? I really didn't look into it that far, just saw it while on their website. Thanks for the thoughts. I don't think I'll do it for now, but they do have one for making gin which I could see in the future maybe. For the basic things, this forum and trial and error should be plenty.

thats the way it used to be but then it was 50$ to join,,
you can buy the books with out or you could..
