Barrel Questions
I've been looking on line for a 10 gallon barrel and I am confused about toasted versus charred barrels. I will be making Bourbon and want the right char for my barrel. Are the medium toast barrels the type I need. If not, does anyone know where to get the type of charred barrel that I need? Thanks in advance.

Re: Barrel Questions
I would highly recommend the Gibbs Brothers charred barrel. Google Gibbs brothers cooperage.... You'll find them.
Toasted barrels are often used for wine. Charred for whiskey...
Edit: Got curious about the cost of a 10 gallon.
So, heres the link...

There are other good ones, but I believe these to be the very best... If you can swing it, I'd also recommend two 5 gallons... Helluva lot easier to fill...

Re: Barrel Questions
I picked up a new 5 gallon barrel from Gibbs about a month ago and have it full of some of my best. In talking with Jay Gibbs he told me they first toast the barrels and then char them. Said it gave them what they think is the best flavor from the oak.
