spiced rum flavoring

Post by copperhead46 »

I have finished a nice rum and wanted to give it a spiced rum flavor, (thats what my husband drinks) and here's what I came up with.....
2 cps water, 1 1/2 cps brown sugar, a couple of strips of orange or lemon peel, 10 whole cloves, one cinnamon stick, a tsp of allspice, and a tbls of good vannila.(more if you like a stronger vannila flavor) I boiled it till it was reduced by about half then strained it into a jar, you can boil it again to make a thick syrup. I added about 3 tablespoons to a qt of clear rum that I had cut to 45% and it's only aged about a week, but my husband and son are loving it
I ain't here for a long time, I'm here for a good time...........
to hell with the red wine, pour me some moonshine.
