Carbon

Post by Froggy »

Hi guys,

I have been polishing my spirit by soaking activated carbon in the diluted spirit for a few days while constantly being stirred.
After a few days I pour the contents(spirit and carbon) through a strainer into another jar.
I would like your opinion on weather any nasty stuff could drain from the carbon while draining in the strainer?
Any ideas?

Thanks

That method has worked for me.
I don't do much carbon filter anymors since moving to whiskey and rum.

I'm still learning to operate my still so i'm taking no chances. Plus i'm only making neutral spirit at the moment and then adding flavours.
I would like to eventually make my own still and then do proper rums and whiskeys.

Lots of wowsers would contend that ethanol is a 'nasty'.

PS I doubt that greenfrogs would like to swim in it.
