It claims to be made of a stainless steel alloy. I'm planning on running it at 120v in a 5 gallon boiler. I know that I can maintain a boil of at least 6 gallons with 1500 watts, so I hope that 1375 should be more than enough. If it takes too long to come up to temperature, I have a 1000w hot plate that can help out.

For beer brewing, I've used zinc coated copper elements, and I soaked them in acid to remove the zinc. I don't need to do anything with these, other than the cleaning runs, right?
