made some pear brandy and the pear color was in the brandy . brandy was 70abv this didnt happen when making peach brandy. i waited longer to run then i did the peach . anybody have a clue?

You didn't say what type still you are using, but assuming it is a simple "pot still" you may have carried over too much of the solids (tiny pulp particles) and flavors and water from your wash. this can happen if your lyne arm is very short or close to the top of the boiler and is sloped downward at a steep angle so that the vapors carry these "hitch-hikers" along with them into the condensor. With a lyne arm angled at 90 degrees or greater, the lighter vapors rise and condense in the collection cup, while the heaiver stuff (water and solids) fall back into the pot. Try readjusting the angle and run another batch using the same recipe for your wash. Let us know how it turns out. I'll bet it will be deliscous. Umm Ummm!
