I just bought the How to make Corn Whiskey book and have been reading the resources available on the web suggested by people here. For my next book purchase I was considering getting The Compleat Distiller. I want to have as broad a base of general information as possible before I get into actually building a still. I was a plumber for a number of years so I've got that working for me.
Question is, putting aside this forum and other online resources for a minute, what FIVE books would be essential to your average neophyte distiller's library?
If you can only come up with one, that okay too. Or any books to avoid. Any suggestions will be taken seriously. Just trying to flesh out my library. Thanks.

Light travels faster than sound. That is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

I like 'Whiskey' by Michael Jackson for pure inspiration. Its not a how-to book, but basically a tour of almost every major whiskey distillery in the world. The pictures are amazing. There are some nuggets of wisdom in it about how the big guys do things.

online books

This is a good reference that showcases two column styles side-by-side. There is a down to earth explaination about all parts.
I built and sold the through column type before the valve control head was added to the document. I was very satisfied with the results and ease of construction. This doc is a good read.
http://journeytoforever.org/ethanol_link.html will highlight a whole range of hard copy and online materials.
