Juice cuts??

Post by RumRunR »

Had a guy get some of my apple and peach pies tday. He liked it but I could tell he was expecting it stronger. He ask me if I ever made grape. No I haven't but no reason I can't but talking to him I gather he wants a 80 proof grape flavor shine.. I've read the strawberry panty dropper n that's on my to do list but for quick fix what about cutting with fruit juice??? My son heard me talking about this and ask why I'm not using Dr.Pepper he thinks that'll be the best. I don't like ruining my hard earned liqueur so I'm looking for opinions.

"Cuts" has a different meaning hereabouts. It's the separation of the fores, heads, hearts and tails. Do this right, then drink the hearts with any mixer you like...max 120 proof for careful sippin neat, and max 80 proof for friends who show off.

Yea I've gathered that cut means something lil different to me n my lil crowd. I suppose I shoulda ask, is anyone proofing with fruit juice? Or fill me in on what it's actually called when I "cut" to 80

I thought proofing was dilluting a known percentage ABV in a distillate with a liquid that has less or no alcohol property including syrups like strawberry panty dropper and other fruit sugar based liquids.

I think my question has either been overlooked, misunderstood or simply just too stupid to be asking here. I've read n understand the strawberry panty dropper like I mentioned earlier and will try it. I wondered if anyone was simply diluting with fruit juice like welchs grape juice from your grocers freezer. But if no one has an opinion on that matter I'm good to go anyway

The apple pie recipe I settled on is a modification of one I found on the Internet. I like my drink a bit stronger and even though you don't taste it after a tall glass you feel it.

Ingredients:
1 gallon apple cider
1 gallon apple juice
1-1/2 cups white sugar
2-1/2 cups brown sugar
8 cinnamon sticks
2.75 liters 190 proof alcohol

Note: Original recipe calls for 3 cups white sugar, no brown sugar, and 1 liter of 190 proof.

1. In large stock pot, combine the apple cider, apple juice, sugars, and cinnamon sticks.
2. Bring to boil, then take it off the heat and allow it to cool.
3. Add the liter of high proof alcohol.
4. I store in 1.75 liter bottles and refrigerate for several weeks before drinking.

This doesn't last long so I bottle in larger containers.

Wellps im glad ive read this here, Ive made some grape just how your talking about doing it.

I took the frozen grape juice concentrate and thawed it out took 1 gal of 140 proof and cut it down with the thawed welches grape juice it turns out pretty damn great might I add, just PLEASE learn from my mistake and dont add the juice to the likker but the likker to the juice and only do it in small quantity's and then taste it so have 2 jars empty..

Pour a little juice in it then pour the likker in it - sample it - if you want more flavor
Take jar number 2 and add a tiny bit more juice to it then pour the already mixed into it ontop of the juice - sample it- if its good then seal her up

It does pretty dang good though, ive done it with grape concentrate/strawberry concentrate/white grape (didnt taste too good it was a tangy flavor)

Anyway best of luck man!

Grape juice must be better than pepsi for diluting, and strawberry too.
