Is this ok?

Little or nothing to do with distillation.

you could use that, but they are awfully thin, wont last long. Also youll beat yourself to death tryin to get that lid to seal, because of the thinness the sides will bulge out, so an airlock wont do you much good. And forget tryin to move it when full of liquid if you need to. It'll fold up right now.
My wife uses those to store her seasonal things in, is how Im so friggin knowledgeable about them  .

Food grade plastic bucket are everywhere, im sure youll stumble in to some soon.
If it was easy everybody would do it.

One of the easiest places to get free foodgrade buckets is from restaurants.

If your aim is making ethanol with a sugar wash, this kind of container is fine a far as I'm concerned.

I use a 106 liter Rubbermaid opaque plastic storage container with lid.

No need to worry about air locks, if you use bakers yeast. Presently, making 80 liter washes, I syphon my wash into 4 airlocked 23 liter wine carboys after day three of the fementation.

I'm not positive that this last step is actually nessesary, I just do it this way to play it safe.

If you would like complete details of my sugar wash procedure; PM me.

Good luck.
