Adding molasses to uncle jessies
If I add some molasses to a batch of uncle jessies for an experiment would alter the flavourful or just up the sugar content. And would it alter it in a good way or destroy a good batch of corn whiskey.
Let's make some booze

Re: Adding molasses to uncle jessies
My main go to is a faux wheat based on Rads all bran recipe. On my last batch I was short a couple of pounds of sugar, so I added a half gallon of cane syrup. I know that's not molasses but mine will probably be a little rumski too.
Looking forward to trying it. Gonna run it this weekend.

Re: Adding molasses to uncle jessies
I did some straight molasses runs (Hook Rum recipe) and absolutely hated it. Corn and malt = good. I think the biggest problem with molasses (at least in my area) is that you don't know the quality or additives. All I know is it was not real good and I did a couple of runs to make sure it wasn't just a bad one.
Food grade molasses is just too expensive so I'm going to try doing some light rum from raw, brown and dark brown sugar.
Ended up running it all through the column to salvage it for vinegar production.
