Fermipan Eagle yeast?

Post by old_red_eye »

Has anyone used this yeast? It is marked "Fermipan Eagle"
instant yeast. It is made in Montreal Canada by Lallemand.

I bought a 450g brick of it today.

I guess from the name its a bread yeast?

so I googled it, Lallemand says its for high sugar doughs.

Thanks j.d.

That site has a lot of good info on distillers yeast also.

I see some people use bakers yeast instead of turbos or even in
place of EC-1118. I would like to try that also.

Still looking for some testimonials on using bakers yeast.....

well, I'm using bread yeast right now...

Nothing wrong with that.... its always worked well for me. and the price is right...

It tastes much better than turbos... It gets reasonably high alc. content. at least as high as you really need. How can you go wrong? I'm just gonna guess, but I bet that is a tough workhorse kind of yeast. What are you planning on making with it?

I just bought it on a whim when I was grocery shopping.

I thought I would try it with a sugar wash.

I made a molassas / brown sugar wash a couple of days ago and pitched
an EC-1118 yeast, may try the bread yeast next time.
