Yeast packets? Help!

Post by Badlands86 »

I've seen a lot of recipes reference a or multiple packets of yeast? Would that be considered 1 of the 7g/quarter ounce packets that fleischmann's comes in, or all three, or something different entirely? Also, how many grams are in a tablespoon for yeast? In the tried and true recipe for sweet feed it calls for 5 packets or 8 tablespoons , that seems like a big difference! Following the rules on the home site suggest 2-4 grams per gallon of mash, using that it seems I would only be using 4 packets at most being that they are 7 g. Thanks a ton and sorry if should know this or missed it

how big is your wash? i use one pk per 5 gal wash and thats plenty. under yeasting will just take a little longer till they multiply. over yeasting --- some will die and be eaten by the live ones. it all comes out in the wash as they say.

I did a search on grams per teaspoon just yesterday. I found several different answers but the most believable was 3.11 grams per teaspoon.
